When You Depart

When you depart

by Salai Eagle

A Van..
Your Chin black beg, on your shoulder,
The Chin songs that you used to sing,
Make us lonesome, when you leave us.
Make us sorrow, when you depart.

Your friends wait you from a tea house
At the junction name as Hledan.
Your foot steps are still by the Lake,
Foot prints remain on Inlya street.

Your favorite poems and that you wrote,
Chankarlak dance that you used to dance,
In our memory like a story,
Make us sorrow when you leave us.

'Nationalism' you used to share,
Democracy that you like the best,
The news Khitpyaing you used to read,
And your favorite FAcup match,
Make us lonesome, when you leave us
.

[Note: This poem is dedicated to a Chin Exiled Student Salai Van Dawt Thang ( B.Sc Geology ) From Western University of Yangon who passed away on 24 Oct 2008 in KL, Malaysia]
